Braces are a versatile orthodontic solution that can give virtually anyone a straighter smile. Although they are one of the most common orthodontic treatments, many people are concerned about the aesthetics of conventional braces. However, today’s braces are a far cry from the bulky metal brackets and wires of previous decades. In fact, modern options, such as lingual braces, are one of the reasons that adults now account for at least twenty-five percent of current orthodontic patients. If you are unhappy with the alignment of your smile, you can join the growing ranks of adult orthodontic patients. All it takes is a phone call to our orthodontist, and we can have you on your way to a straight, healthy smile in virtually no time.
Conventional braces consist of brackets that are bonded to the fronts of teeth. Lingual braces are bonded to the tongue side of the teeth. Because they are on the back of the teeth, they are almost invisible, and patients can laugh, talk, and smile with confidence throughout treatment. If our dentist determines that you are a candidate, we will begin by taking a dental impression of your teeth, which will be turned into a model of your mouth. The dental lab will use it to make brackets custom to your smile. Once the brackets are ready, they will be bonded to the lingual surfaces of your teeth. The arch wires are then connected to the brackets using special bands.
As with conventional braces, lingual braces use gentle, continuous pressure on teeth to move them into healthy, balanced positions. The process can take from twelve to thirty-six months, depending on the severity of your orthodontic problems. Periodic adjustments are needed to maintain the proper amount of pressure. These adjustments are not typically painful, but the teeth may feel sensitive due to the pressure. You may also have a period of acclimation as you get used to the feeling of braces against your tongue. Good dental hygiene is critical during any orthodontic treatment, and our dentist may recommend that you use a fluoride mouthwash to keep your teeth strong and healthy.

Now I Can Smile Again!
The dentist just made my front teeth/smile look like I had veneers implanted! She took away all my dark spots and heading without crowns and painful implants. It looks amazing! Thank You 🙂
The dentist was very kind + caring. Highly recommend! I only had a few days left on my dental insurance + she helped to prioritize my care + fit me in so that I could get issues taken care of in a pinch. The office manager, couldn't have been sweeter + she helped me to understand the sometimes tricky insurance pieces + actual prices I'd be paying before I made any decisions. A+ experience.
